I’ve heard a lot of negative comments about T.J. Maxx in real life and on the internet. Some people want to know why a clothing and home goods store stocks random culinary products. I, however, am not some people.
No, this is not an ad. I just don’t understand why people are hating on the food at T.J. Maxx! T.J. Maxx is where it’s at when it comes to buying luxury items—including food—at a discounted price. They have such a great selection of interesting items, most of which I wouldn’t regularly buy because of the price point. I’m not spending $16 on a seasoning blend I’ve never heard of before. The fact that these foods are discounted at T.J. Maxx, though, allows me to test new things and I love that.
Below are the items I think you should be buying at T.J. Maxx. Experiment, have fun, and make sure to check the expiration date before checkout. It is still a discount store, after all.
Syrups for CoffeeIf it’s your dream to have a fancy coffee bar situation in your home, T.J. Maxx is the place for you. Their selection is unmatched. They almost always have the Torani syrups everyone is obsessed with in stock. Build your very own coffee station at home for cheap and stop going to Starbucks every single day.
Salt & PepperYou can get massive salt and pepper grinders at T.J. Maxx for a really good price. They will last you a long time and look nice on your kitchen countertop. You no longer have to splurge on fancy stuff like Himalayan pink sea salt or Tellicherry peppercorns.
Jellies & JamsInterested in fig & walnut butter or raspberry peach champagne jam but unsure if you want to commit to a jar at full price? T.J. Maxx has got your back. I’m telling you: The next time you’re making a cheese board, stop by T.J. Maxx. You will find a jam to pair with each and every cheese you plan on serving.
Olive OilFancy olive oil can run you a pretty penny. Not at T.J. Maxx, though! They typically have a huge selection of fancy olive oils on their shelves. From cooking olive oils to drizzling olive oils, they’ve got it all. And it doesn’t just stop at olive oil. Sometimes they have fancy avocado oil as well!
Imported PastaI know people who claim that they cannot eat gluten in America, but they do not seem to have the same problem with gluten in Europe. If this is you, buy your Italian pasta at T.J. Maxx! I’ve read that people who are sensitive to gluten can handle some of the pasta at T.J. Maxx because it’s imported from Italy and it is made with European flour. I’m not gluten-intolerant so I can’t promise this will work, but it seems important to at least try! And if you can eat gluten no matter what country you’re in, I think you’ll still enjoy some fancy Italian pasta.
