August 2024 · 6 minute read

These quick and easy chocolate almond croissants use a shortcut by using day old croissants and filling them with a homemade almond filling and rich, decadent chocolate and baking until warm. These are the best almond chocolate croissants!

I am a sucker for a warm, fresh out of the oven almond croissant. I recently shared how to take a shortcut and make easy almond croissants at home using day old croissants and you all have loved that recipe!

Since the chocolate chip cookie croissant has gone so viral over TikTok and social media, I wanted to create my own version of the cookie croissant. Now, I love myself some carbs; however, the croissant and cookie dough seemed a little bit of an overload.

So I decided to take my easy almond croissant recipe and stuff it with a decadent chocolate bar to make the ultimate chocolate almond croissant. To say we fell in love with this chocolate croissant is an understatement.

Ingredients:

The beauty of these chocolate croissants is how easy they are to make since we start with already baked croissants.

Almond Simple Syrup:

For extra almond flavor, this is what you brush on the croissants to impart more almond into the chocolate almond croissants. If you don’t want as much almond flavor, use vanilla extract instead.

What chocolate to use in Chocolate Croissants?

For making chocolate croissants, you typically want to use chocolate that melts easily and has a rich flavor. Here are some ideas:

  • Chocolate bars: Choose high-quality dark chocolate bars. These will melt smoothly and provide a rich chocolate flavor without being overly sweet.
  • Chocolate chips: Semi-sweet chocolate chips are convenient to use and melt easily. However, they may contain additives to help them keep their shape, so be sure to choose a high-quality brand.
  • Chocolate batons: These are specifically designed for making croissants and other pastries. Chocolate batons are long, thin sticks of chocolate that are perfect for rolling into croissant dough.
  • Chocolate spreads: Nutella or other chocolate spreads can also be used as a filling for chocolate croissants. Keep in mind that these spreads contain additional ingredients like sugar and oils, which can affect the sweetness.

    Where to buy Croissants?

I have tried so many different types of croissants when I was recipe testing my almond croissants and these chocolate almond croissants.

The croissants in these photos are from Costco and they are delicious. I have tried the ones from Sam’s Club and I prefer the ones from Costco Bakery. I have also tried the Private Selection Brand at Kroger store and while those are good, I still prefer the Costco croissants.

    Storage:

These are best eaten warm, fresh out of the oven, but can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for several days. Just warm up in the oven or toaster oven to melt the chocolate again.
